Akshara Children’s Library
Akshara Children’s Library is home to more than 13,000 books for children up to 18 years of age.
The journey began in Sept 2002 when we started a children’s library in our home for kids. The library was open to both the well-off and underprivileged children. The idea was to introduce them to the magic of books by making them easily accessible. During the week ends, we ran workshops that gave the children an opportunity to experiment and express the inherent creativity. Over time we housed a library on autism to help parents and teachers deal with their specially abled children.
Akshara Children’s library is designed to be a hub of reading and creative educational activities that is accessible to children from all walks of life. We help establish libraries in partnership with NGOs who work with municipal schools and reading centers. We curate and ensure a steady donation of books, puzzles, educational toys and, resources for creative activities. We encourage the schools to conduct creative sessions like storytelling by giving necessary inputs and talent.
